NoteThrough my practice, I have considered the role of the afterlife in our earthly existence. I am interested in people’s relationships with death and how we deal with the one certain thing that will happen to us all.
My visual inspiration began with a jade ring-shaped object called Bi. Bi is an ancient Chinese artefact often used as a burial object to assist the deceased in their journey to the afterlife.
I use the act of meticulously creating each detail repeatedly as a meditation that brings a timelessness to the making process, mirroring the ongoing journey of an afterlife.
Attraverso la mia pratica, ho riflettuto sul ruolo dell'aldilà nella nostra esistenza terrena. Sono interessata alle relazioni delle persone con la morte e al modo in cui affrontiamo l'unica cosa certa che accadrà a tutti noi.
La mia ispirazione visiva è iniziata con un oggetto a forma di anello di giada chiamato Bi. Bi è un antico manufatto cinese spesso utilizzato come oggetto di sepoltura per accompagnare i defunti nel loro viaggio verso l'aldilà.
Uso ripetutamente l'azione di creare meticolosamente ogni dettaglio come una sorta di processo meditativo che conferisce un'atemporalità al processo di creazione, rispecchiando il viaggio continuo di un aldilà.
