"Sono nato ad Atene, dove ho studiato Architettura. Per quasi 30 anni mi sono occupato di studi e costruzioni di case e negozi, specializzandomi al contempo in studi sull'illuminazione, attività che continuo tuttora.
Fin da bambino il mio hobby era il fai-da-te e la mia passione era collezionare vecchi attrezzi. Lavorando nel settore edile, ho scoperto i segreti di molte professioni dell'edilizia. Grazie a queste conoscenze e alla sperimentazione nel mio laboratorio, ho acquisito dimestichezza con strumenti e tecniche provenienti da diversi ambiti e ho ideato metodologie per realizzare qualsiasi cosa mi prefiggessi. Fino a 13 anni fa, la mia attività artigianale si concentrava su tutto ciò che riguardava l'interno di una casa, finché non ho scoperto per caso il mondo della gioielleria d'arte contemporanea.
Lì, la mia immaginazione si è liberata, e tutte le mie tecniche, originali e tradizionali, si sono fuse con tutte le conoscenze acquisite. Sono affascinato dal processo creativo senza limiti, attraverso il quale imparo e sviluppo costantemente tecniche e prospettive. Credo che un gioiello debba essere unico e irripetibile, proprio come la persona che lo indossa. Con questo in mente, ho scelto di realizzare gioielli con materiali organici (funghi, alghe, frutta), attraverso un processo lungo e complesso. Credo di catturare un momento in evoluzione e di fonderlo con pensieri ed emozioni, creando, in sostanza, una memoria materiale."
"I was born in Athens, where I studied Architecture. For almost 30 years I was involved in studies and constructions of houses and shops, while at the same time I specialized in lighting studies, an activity which I still continue.
My hobby since I was a child was DIY and my passion was collecting old tools. While working in the construction business, I was introduced to the secrets of many construction professions. Using this knowledge and experimenting in my lab, I have become very comfortable using tools and techniques from different fields and
designing methodologies in order to achieve anything I set my mind to. My crafting was about everything inside a house until 13 years ago, when I discovered by chance the world of contemporary art jewellery.
There, my imagination was freed, while all my techniques, original and traditional, were combined with all the knowledge I had acquired. I am fascinated by the process of creating without limitations, through which I am constantly learning and developing techniques and perspectives.
I believe that jewellery should be one and only, as unique as the person who rejoices it. With this in mind, I chose to make jewellery with organic materials (mushrooms, seaweeds, fruits), through a time-consuming and complicated process. I think I am capturing a moment of evolution and merging it with thoughts and emotions
creating essentially, a material memory."
